Note:  These are the hours required under SB546 and SB929 All TACs are subject to SB546 provisions and TACs that collect property taxes and take office after 5/18/2017 are subject to both SB546 and SB929 provisions.

TACA Professional Designation Program Requirements - Updated 1/1/2019

NEW CHANGES TO THE TACA PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATION  CERTIFICATION EDUCATION PROGRAM   EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2019

To obtain a TACA professional designation certification the TACA Active member must complete all required courses AND have completed two (2) years of experience as the County Tax Assessor-Collector.

To obtain a TACA professional designation certification the TACA Associate member must have at least two (2) years of experience working in a county tax office.

The TACA Course Ethics for County Tax Assessor-Collectors is required to be completed once every twenty-four (24) months to maintain any TACA professional designation certification.  This provision applies to all Active and Associate members of TACA that hold a TACA Professional Designation Certification on January 1, 2019 and thereafter.

Title Fraud training (formerly known as Red Flag training) is now a mandatory course to obtain a CTOP and/or PCC certification.

A PCC/CTOP/PDAC/PCAC Designation awarded in a calendar year will be required to acquire the applicable CE hours to maintain the designation beginning January 1 of the following calendar year.

Note:  This course is required within the first 12 months of taking office for elected/appointed County Tax Assessor-Collectors whose offices collect property taxes.

VG Young Institute Online Courses

TACA Continuing Education courses are available for CE credit hours under SB546 and SB929.  These online courses are also available to obtain and/or maintain a TACA Professional Designation Certification. 

VG Young Institute Courses

What to expect from an online VG Young Course:

  • Courses consists of tutorial, comprehensive review and evaluation
  • Each course will take at least 1 hour to complete
  • Participants should always print their certificate upon course completion
  • The Institute will report participant completion on your behalf.

CE Requests for Regional Meetings and other In house Training

Are you hosting a regional meeting?  Would you like to have your attendees obtain SB546 and professional certification maintenance CE hours?

Do you teach courses that are developed in house?  Does your staff go to countywide training?  Do you send your team to external training?  Would you like for your team members attending to obtain SB546 and certification maintenance CE hours?

It's as simple as 1.2.3!  Complete the CE Request Form and submit it to the Education Director for review and approval at least 21 days prior to your event.
